AHMEDABAD: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Gujarat issued a heavy rainfall warning for south Gujarat, Saurashtra and parts of east central Gujarat on Thursday.
In Ahmadabad, only light to moderate rain is expected. "A fresh cyclonic circulation lies over south Gujarat and Saurashtra, because of which widespread rains are expected over south Gujarat, parts of Saurashtra and east-central Gujarat," IMD Gujarat director Jayanta Sarkar said. Ahmedabad, especially the western parts, had a dry day despite overcast conditions. The city on average received only 1.9 mm of rain.
The city has so far received just 68 mm of rainfall. According to the revenue control room, against its annual average rainfall of 831mm, the state has received only 97.21 mm, just 11.70% of the average rainfall. Revenue officials said that of the 251 talukas in the state, nine talukas including seven in Kutch have not received any rainfall activity
