Three men were killed after a truck hit a Maruti Swift Dzire, they were travelling in, late evening on Thursday. The accident happened at Somatane Phata on the Pune-Mumbai expressway.

“One of the three deceased has been identified as Hemant Talekar, a resident of Uran. The other has been identified as Prafful Bihari (18), who hailed from Bihar,” a police constable said. He was carrying an employment identity card from a Lonavala-based company called Spectrum.

The truck hit the car from behind and fled the spot without informing the concerned authorities, according to the local police. The expressway patrol of Delta four found the mangled car and reported the incident to the expressway control room, according to the Ideal Road Builders (IRB) representatives.

The police and members of the fire and rescue force rushed to the spot and the bodies were pulled out from the vehicle. The identity of the third person could not be ascertained immediately.

The police sent the bodies to Talegaon Dabhade general hospital, according to constable Salunkhe of Talegaon Dabhade police station.
